- Would I be pressuring my preschooler by placing him/her in a gifted program?
If your preschooler is not intellectually capable, or not developmentally ready, to handle a curriculum geared to the needs of gifted children, yes- he/she would feel frustrated; this is why we insist on testing each applicant before accepting the child into our program. On the other hand, if your child is endowed with superior intellectual abilities and is placed in a traditional preschool program, he or she may be similarly frustrated.
- What kind of testing is done with my child?
The individualized battery of tests administered to your child as a preadmission requirement includes measures of expressive language, receptive language, attention, concentration span, and intellectual potential.
- How long does the testing take?
It takes approximately half an hour to test a preschooler. The tests are not pencil and paper tests, but rather individualized psychometric instruments widely used by educators and psychologists. The testing situation is a pleasant one. Many of the tests appear to be games to the child.
- How will I know if my child has been accepted?
Parents will be notified by mail as to whether their child has been accepted into our program. They will receive this notification approximately three to four days after the test date.
- What does the curriculum include?
South Shore offers a stimulating, engaging, curriculum designed to meet the needs of gifted preschoolers. Each youngster accepted into our program will receive both individual and small group instruction in each of the following areas:

- Who will teach my child?

- What is the application procedure?
